From the World's Most Remote Island
Maimiti Haven is my home and workshop here on Pitcairn Island — a tiny, volcanic speck in the South Pacific, home to fewer than 50 people and one of the most isolated communities on Earth. Our island's story begins with the mutineers and Polynesians who came on the Bounty in 1790, whose descendants still live here today, carrying on traditions passed down through generations.
What We Make
Our handcrafted Jobstear earrings are made from seeds that grow naturally on Pitcairn. Each pair is gathered, prepared, and assembled by hand — no two are exactly alike. When you wear them, you carry a small piece of this extraordinary place.
Our digital music collections preserve the songs of Pitcairn — To help keep our culture and language going, I started writing songs in 1987 on Norfolk Island. Teaching the children using my songs have helped preserved Pitcairns history.
Weaving also passed down through the generations have helped me to create pouches, baskets, fans and ornaments.
Tapa making and turning into works of art are an inspiration. Keeping the tradition going after decades of the art being lost on Pitcairn and reviving it in 2007 have been mind blowing for me.
Soap making using oils I make from Coconuts, Doodwi nuts and Tamanu. Im using the oils as body and hair oils. Making body cream from bees wax and coconut oils.
Honey is well sort after world wide and have been doing it since 1978.
